Dear [MP name],

I am a constituent of yours, residing at [address] in [constituency]. I'm writing to you today with regards to the ongoing police brutality situation and resultant protests in the USA. I have three demands.

​

First and foremost, in line with suggestions made by leading human rights organisations such as Amnesty (source), it is imperative that the UK immediately suspends all sales of rubber bullets, riot shields and teargas - a chemical weapon so potent that the Geneva convention forbids its use in warfare - to the USA.

Secondly, the UK Government must issue a statement publicly condemning President Trump's excessive use of militarised force against his own citizens. His despotic attempts to punish the American people for exercising their right to protest is utterly out of line with modern democratic standards, and it is crucial that the UK authorities make it known that they do not consider this behaviour acceptable.

Finally, following the publication of the UK Government's review of the relative risks of COVID-19 to specific groups, including BAME people, and which describes the risk of those with Asian, Caribbean and black ethnicities in England and Wales as "disproportionate", the electorate deserves to know why. The UK Government must set out how it proposes to deal with this disparity of health outcomes. [Note: such a disparity was only found in respect of England and Wales and not in Scotland, however if you are writing to your MPs for Scottish constituencies, it is still important that they support such an initiative in Westminster. We understand the Scottish Government is carrying out further analysis on this issue in Scotland.]

The situation as it stands in the USA is nothing short of state-sponsored terrorism. Failure to enforce the above demands will mean the UK is not simply complicit in this terrorism, but actively participates in it. This is unacceptable.
