Subject line: Justice For Belly Mujinga
Dear [MP name]

My name is [insert name here] and I am emailing today about the investigation into Belly Mujinga’s death.
I am demanding justice for Belly Mujinga, who was working on the front lines during this pandemic. She was assaulted by being spat at and coughed on.
I would like you to demand an investigation into why Govia Thameslink did not provide Ms Mujinga with PPE despite their knowledge of her health conditions. They were aware that she was in a high-risk group thus making her vulnerable to Covid-19. Why was Ms Mujinga not protected by her employers?
Secondly, I would greatly appreciate it if you could request more information from the British Transport Police about their conduct of this investigation. They stated in their most recent statement that there was no evidence of Ms Mujinga being spat on, however this strongly contradicts the reports of her family who were informed about this incident from Ms Mujinga herself, as well as witness reports. If she was never assaulted by this individual then that obviously renders this particular concern to be invalid. However, as I’m sure you can understand, I find it very hard to believe (as well as multiple members of the public) that there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that Ms Mujinga was assaulted, and I would thoroughly appreciate if there was further investigation done into this evidence.
I’m unaware of whether the Data Protection Act 2018 applies in this situation, however if it does, I would like to request on behalf of the Mujinga family that they are allowed to view the CCTV footage in question, as it pertains to this investigation. I am also unaware of the limits of the British Transport Police in sharing evidence with the victim (or their family/legal representation), but I would also like to request that if possible, the evidence being used to reach a conclusion would be shared with those people (in as much detail as is possible or appropriate).
I understand you have an extremely busy schedule however I would appreciate if we received some form of response or acknowledgement to these concerns within 14 working days of receipt of this email. Thank you in advance for your help with this matter and please do keep me informed of any progress.
I look forward to hearing your response in due course.
Yours sincerely,
